Call for RHMB Noughties Lists!

HELLO BABBY NEW DECADE! Well, the decade we call "the noughties" is finally over (shut up pedants!) Now it's time to make a list of the best releases! This is due on MARCH 27th at 12PM EST and I'm going to aggregate this one like I did the 90s list, except for a couple of changes: 1. I want between 20 and 50 picks from you and 2. the points system is slightly different. To keep things simple and relatively fair, you will get 20 points for your #1, 19 points for your #2, and so on until #16 when that pick and everything after gets 5 points. In other words:
#1 = 20 points
#2 = 19 points
#3 = 18 points
...
#16 = 5 points
#17 = 5 points
#18 = 5 points
...
#49 = 5 points
#50 = 5 points
Anything with a release date year beginning with the numbers 20** is fine (though, remasters are frowned upon! BY ME!) I'd prefer to get the lists in descending order starting with #1, and if you could include the year of release along with the band name and album title (or single, etc), it would save me an awful lot of work. Send lists to me @ my gmail addy: harrizonn@gmail.com or put them in the comments.

I look forward to the lists! And don't forget, this *IS* a competition, so SPAM your favorites on the msgboard!

Call For End Of Year Lists!

Regarding your Best Of 2009 album lists, I'm going to post whatever people give me in one long post on, uhh... December 19th. The release just has to be from this year (can be a repackaging/rerelease or anything with a 2009 date), and the list can be from five to fifty.

So, whatever lists I've gotten by then will be posted (with comments if you want), and there they shall be for all internet eternity.

If I don't know you from the RHMB, feel free to post your lists in the comments that day! Or maybe if you trick me into thinking I know you, I will post your lists with my friends'. If you are an enemy I will also post your list, because you're supposed to keep your enemies close (to take revenge at arm's length.)

Harri's 80s Retrospective Volume 3 Mix!

I threw together a third 80s mix (the first two are here), and I swear I would have had it ready sooner but I dunno... it was just MISSING SOMETHING and luckily I got turned on to a few really good bands in the last month from that decade so I could finish. But enough about me (boring), here's the music! It's a nice mix of upbeat cheese, synthyness, sad moaning, and strutting.

01 - Slow Children - Too Weak To Eat (3:01)
02 - Fools Face - Maiden U.S.A (2:17)
03 - Romeo Void - Shake The Hands of Time (3:20)
04 - Passionate Friends - Whats The Odds (4:22)
05 - Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Beating My Head (3:45)
06 - Revillos - Where's The Boy For Me (2:03)
07 - Delmontes - Ga-Ga (2:57)
08 - The Great Unwashed - Boat With No Ocean (2:56)
09 - The Go-Betweens - Ask (5:11)
10 - Trees - Delta Sleep (3:43)
11 - Shox - No Turning Back (2:50)
12 - Commercials - Simon (2:18)
13 - Land of Giants - Canibal Dolls (3:29)
14 - Meat Whiplash - Don't Slip Up (3:21)
15 - Pylon - Functionality (4:28)

Listening party is scheduled for next Sunday (the 12th) at 9 PM EST! and we're going to follow this mix with the megaMIX, music made by RHMBers, that is (from a different decade, though a good chunk of them were produced in the 80s, so maybe that counts OR SOMETHING). Just add the megaMIX to the end of the playlist.

download the megaMIX mp3!

fun!

P.S. streamable version will be up before Sunday!

GRAB THIS!: Sarah Juice 2008!

Sarah Juice has a "favorite songs of 2008 mix" to share with people, and we're planning on a Wednesday night 9PM EST listening party! Download will be uploaded soon.

Thanks Sarah Juice!

Also, I've added a Google Calendar option at the bottom of the page, which might help get things organized a bit more (BOR-RRRING). If anyone else has any Web 2.0 suggestions for the site, lemmeknow.

cheers!

Here's the thing! About the mixes!

The RHMB Mix Blog is in full effect.

This is your one stop shop for keeping up with the upcoming mixes and what not. Give me a holler if you want to set something up, and I'll be glad to post it.

Update your RSS!

Tell your friends! Especially the hot ones, right?

now that we have an official blog for this, ignore the backlash (an internet tradition).

and remember, if someone makes fun of your music, don't get mad. they're probably sterile and/or ugly.

cheers,

Harri
