2011 Communal Ohh! Vankyvank Cumcum! Mix

As the days of our ability to share music dwindle down to only a handful (maybe this is what the Mayans were warning us about?) I feel even more guilty for taking so long to put together this 2011 Communal Mix. How long do we have? Minutes? Weeks? Hours? Let's make every circlejerky moment count, people! <(^) We had a big turnout for the communal mix this year, so I split it into two parts (though they should flow pretty well if you want to do one after the other). RHMB Communal Lyrics Mix!

"Music is meaningful."
Lyrics are serious business. Because of this, I usually don't pay much attention to them. "Argh! Your mouth sounds are getting in the way of the synthesizers and static", I say. But ok, I can stop being a hater for a minute and listen to some music with clever, earnest, even narrative lyrics, about people and ideas and... stuff. 2010 Communal Mix: Gambling With Souls!

This year has been a veritable roller-coaster ride of emotion on the RHMB, not that I would know since I'm rarely given over to sentiment or "feelings." Personal relationships can be chaotic, beast-like things, better left to the more swarthy races. It gets so confusing you never know just whom is doing what to whomever! One thing is for sure though, people do have opinions about music! What better way to get all these thinkings about musics out in the open where they can be debated, bitterly, leading to the shredding of friendships, than on a somewhat democratic list or "mix" of sorts? Also, as you can plainly make out from the picture, this path may also lead to waywardness and spotty morality ---> OR EVEN COMMUNISM.

RHMB's Belle and Sebastian Mix!

B&S: they look pleasant

Ah, Belle and Sebastian. The name-checking indie band that almost everyone can agree on. Okay, maybe some people don't like them. "Too precocious," they say, maybe even calling them "dainty." I for one don't buy it! This split is reminiscent of the Cross-Atlantic Conflict on the RHMB. However, despite the deep divide between American and British RHMBers, riven by years of clear UK aggression, and divided by bad blood over 1812, who had the best punks and tea taxes (now more pertinent than ever), it's nice to have a moment's respite and enjoy some wispy, emotive, indyrockyness together. And / or make babies.

Ah, finally. This year's RHMB Communal Mix. I spent a few weeks asking for people to give me a favorite track from this year and all of fifteen people were nice enough to participate (thanks, everybody!), including me (thanks, me!)
