Sarah Juice's 60s Dylan Mix!

Sarah Juice has this to say about the mix:

This is the dreaded Dylan Mix. Well... Part One of the dreaded Dylan Mix. The catalogue is too big and he changes styles, voices, and even religions throughout the now 50 years he's been recording, so I decided to break it down into the 1960s, 1970s, and then 1989-2010.

Part One: 1960's. Dylan started off the 60's with folk and protest songs. I didn't include any protest songs here cos you'd all hate that stuff, but you know a lot of them already: Blowin in The Wind, Times They Are a Changin, etc. So from folk we go straight into rock. The bulk of the mix is this mid 60's golden era of Dylan's rock phase, but at the tail end we cover his brief country phase. In between are some of his most popular hits and some other stuff you may never have heard, or heard from other artists. I'd say enjoy, but I'm not stupid enough to think you will. So: Good luck!

Ah, Autumn so nice. Perfect weather if you ask me. A bunch of this new Office Chart mix comes from the huge Ninja Tune XX box set (mostly unreleased material) and the picture above = Ninja. I'm willing to bet these songs will be showing up in many office charts to come.

Kevin Shields Outside Projects Mix!

AKA, my Non-My Bloody Valentine Kevin Shields Proper Mix, or whatever you want to call it. Basically, a bunch of tunes I like that Shields either produced, played on, or remixed that all share elements of his "style," that wall of sound thing, right. A lot of these bands I'm not the biggest fan of but, when KS starts messing around with them, it can turn into a favorite. Jamca's Mike Patton Mix!

The Man In The Lower Right Hand Corner of the Photograph

From the beginning of this blog, I've had one rule and one rule only: no Mike Patton. But jamca wasn't there when I said that out loud to myself over and over again, so I guess it's understandable that she would violate this rule by emailing me this mix. I will try not to hold this against her. But, enough about me, what's the deal with this Patton Mix?!?!?!?!:

This is something I've been wanting to do for quite some time, and I have to say I'm pretty proud of it! Mike Patton makes me happy, and Iwanted to create a mix that would introduce people who are unfamiliar with his work, or perhaps have only heard "Epic."

I put a lot of thought into how to arrange the mix, and which tracks should go on it. I had to put some limits on my choices or else it just wouldn't work, because he has too much material! Some of the projects he has worked on are not represented on this mix at all, because I didn't feel they worked well for what I was going for. I
wanted the mix to span his career, be listenable for Patton newbies, and showcase his incredible talent, creativity, and versatility as a musician and vocalist. Most importantly, I wanted it to be FUN! And I think I accomplished that. It might not be for everyone, but it's definitely not boring!

This isn't a "best-of" mix, it's a sampler of sorts. And since I couldn't figure out the best way to arrange the tracks, I simply arranged them chronologically, which worked surprisingly well! So I present to you- the Mike Patton Chrono-Sampler, featuring: Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, and Mondo Cane.

(technically, the final track was recorded in 2008, so chronologically it's out of order. But it's still part of his latest project, and I thought it made a great ending!)

To anyone even half-considering checking this out, this is my promise to you: You WILL find something to love on this mix, though you're likely to find things to hate, too! There's a lot of variety to be found here. Give it a try, and have fun!
