Sticky Tar Chart!

From Dead Air Space:
so yes rumour has it that the canadians came to the copenhagen summit demanding to increase their co2 emmissions.
principally cuz of the tar sands and how much money the faceless motherfuckers in the oil industry stand to make out of it.. who are obviously bankrolling the government there.
i find it hard to correlate this all with the canadians i know who are very forward thinking..
the frightening thing about it is that just such a project could send the climate over the tipping point.
here's a link.. but just google if you wanna know more

people and planet on tar sands

....i try to imagine what it must be like to work in the political lobby office of BP or whatever (ok not often).. must be nice to not give a shit... i've met some people involved in the oil industry they seem nice enough... u know..
but hey, they might cry, were all answerable to the shareholders..
err hang on isnt that most of us? pension funds etc? tricky. but then again not really. what use is a fuckin pension when there aint nowhere to live?

an yway
this is an office chart for all u shareholders out there>>>>

Thanks again to pukirocks of The Twitter and Chatbox fame for the music link! You are a savior.

Also, this is about as close to an "environmental post" as the mixblog will likely get! Congrats, Thom! Everyone be nice to the guy for a bit... all those ellipses and cursewords indicate fragility. Perhaps a violent undertone? Is Thom part ORCA!?

topical!

If you like that Low song, I would highly recommend watching the La Blogotheque Takaway Show version of it. It's gorgeous.

P.S. doesn't Yorke look like Ben Linus from Lost in that photo? *uses this observation in fanfic*

asabp's Film Music Mix + Listening Party!

asabp (= allsurrogateandbulletproof) has been kind enough to provide us with a mix of film musics, and in her own words:
To make the mix I decided I wanted to choose music that really was part of the film... not just songs for movies, but proper Film Music.

It is very subjective and it might look like a very uneven mix but the common thing is that you listen to the music and if you have seen the film it might take you back to it and if you hand't hopefully it'll make you want to see it.

In the process many things were left behind... but it had to be done.

Oh and in the list I misspelt laberynth... labyrynth... labyrinth! It's one of those words I just can't spell.

Call for RHMB Noughties Lists!

HELLO BABBY NEW DECADE! Well, the decade we call "the noughties" is finally over (shut up pedants!) Now it's time to make a list of the best releases! This is due on MARCH 27th at 12PM EST and I'm going to aggregate this one like I did the 90s list, except for a couple of changes: 1. I want between 20 and 50 picks from you and 2. the points system is slightly different. To keep things simple and relatively fair, you will get 20 points for your #1, 19 points for your #2, and so on until #16 when that pick and everything after gets 5 points. In other words:
#1 = 20 points
#2 = 19 points
#3 = 18 points
...
#16 = 5 points
#17 = 5 points
#18 = 5 points
...
#49 = 5 points
#50 = 5 points
Anything with a release date year beginning with the numbers 20** is fine (though, remasters are frowned upon! BY ME!) I'd prefer to get the lists in descending order starting with #1, and if you could include the year of release along with the band name and album title (or single, etc), it would save me an awful lot of work. Send lists to me @ my gmail addy: harrizonn@gmail.com or put them in the comments.

I look forward to the lists! And don't forget, this *IS* a competition, so SPAM your favorites on the msgboard!
